Pebeo Vitrea160: A Review

I have been using Pebeo Vitrea160 to create my recent collection of glass paintings. I have made over 50 items now and intend to make many more. I am obsessed with Vitrea160. It is a great medium to work with, but it does have its difficulties...

The liner is not very precise and the hub of the liner gets blocked easily. On one occasion a liner exploded on me when pressure was applied to the tube. Unluckily the explosion did get me in the eyes, luckily, I was able to wash it out without any long term damage.

The paint itself is nice to work with as long as it is stored properly and does not have a high viscosity (a common issue with the frosted paints). Mixing colours will leave you with a swirly pattern... take this into consideration when mixing colours. Some paints are more opaque than others. The "light" colours tend to have a lower viscosity and tend to pool to the sides of the liner. I ended up mixing more opaque colours with the "light" colours to get a more desired colour and degree of opacity.

The paint colours are lovely. It would be great if they added another brown to their colour range to give more variation in earth tones and I wish the aniseed green was a non-frosted paint.

Techniques I use are still a work in progress. I use tooth picks to apply paint and cotton buds to wipe away errors. DO NOT rework the paint until the layer is dry. You cannot rework an area after application, unless the layer below has completely dried.

I will continue to add more updates and further reviews in the coming weeks.
